Gucci Marmont and Gucci Velvet Evening Slipper

Gucci

WHAT GOES BETTER WITH GUCCI THAN, WELL, GUCCI!

I’ve talked, and talked, and talked some more about the Gucci Marmont collection. While I have decided to go in a different direction for my next big bag buy, I still dream about adding a little something Marmont to my closet some day soon! My heart goes pitter patter over anything Gucci! So, imagine my delight when I was able to take the Gucci GG Marmont Matelassé Bag out for a spin. Paired with velvet Gucci slippers, this duo is one you’re sure to lust over too!

Gucci GG Marmont Matelassé Shoulder Bag

The matelassé white leather is soft and luxurious. Unlike all the other Marmont bags, this stunning little lady is adorned with gold studded accents. This bag is the perfect white bag for summer!

Gucci Velvet Evening Slipper

I, like everyone else on the planet these days, am obsessed beyond obsessed with Gucci slides. These velvet slides come in a pretty rose hue and are embellished with gold snake detailing, making them the perfect compliment to the Marmont bag. They are incredibly comfortable and super fun! I love how different they are. Snag a pair and serve up some serious shoe envy to your pals.

GUCCI RESORT 2018 RUNWAY BAG

Gucci

Gucci-Resort-2018-Runway-Bag-Collection-2

Gucci Resort 2018 Collection was recently held at the Palatine gallery of the Palazzo Pitti in Florence, Italy, a place brimming with rich historical Renaissance influences. The collection specifically focused on an ancient Classical theme which reminds us of the glorious days of the Renaissance period. And what better way to accompany their haute couture than with a pair of bag accessories?

There are several attention grabbing bags from Gucci Resort 2018 Runway Bag Collection, which deserves to be talked about and one of which is this new bag with an iconic design. This rectangular shaped shoulder bag features the label’s well-famed original GG canvas diamond pattern, which is known as a symbol of luxury and has been a style staple in the Gucci line since the mid 1960’s. The GG canvas diamond pattern on the other hand is perfectly complemented by the iconic green and red web stripe placed in the middle, a design found in the straps of Gucci’s Original GG canvas tote. The bag is later finished off with a smooth leather all around the edges while the interlocking GG logo is placed in the upper middle portion for instant brand recognition. It also features a gold-tone chained shoulder for easy shoulder and across the body carrying.

Messenger bags are also reintroduced in the 2018 Runway Collection but this time they come in different prints, colors, and motifs. What we love about this year’s Gucci Resort Collection is the fact that it also features men’s bags in the runway and these three particular bags caught our attention. First off is this retro-inspired small messenger bag with its colorful hand painted motifs and an antique gold-colored tucktite fastener for security purposes. Another bag which deserves our attention would be this House Web striped inspired messenger bag which channels an old vintage ensemble. Lastly would be this Gucci tote with a vintage squared G print, which is perfect to bring around as it provides enough space to hold your essentials and non-essentials.

Gucci Pre-Fall 2017 Velvet GG Marmont

Gucci

IMAGES: GUCCI

Ever so often I ‘stumble’ into Gucci’s website just to have a look to see what’s new at Italian luxury house, one that has taken ‘more-is-more-is-more’ to a whole new level and experiencing commercial success, with its robust sales proving that Alessandro Michele’s Gucci is here to stay.

Which brings us to today’s find, a bag introduced during Michele’s tenure and a classic-in-the-making, the GG Marmont. What’s different from these ones as opposed to the ones in calfskin or suede leathers that have preceded it is the addition of these intensely gorgeous floral appliqués and embroidery that really lives up to it being ‘more-is-more-is-more’ on the bag’s lush velvet body.

Available in a Black or Cobalt Blue with words like Modern and Loved splashed across it, these come in a medium size that measures some 30.5 cm wide and 19 cm high. With a rather long sliding chain sling, it will sit nicely under the arm when looped over twice on the shoulder, or can be easily worn across the body when the chain is fully unfurled.

On the inside you’ll find silk satin with sufficient compartments lined up, like an internal zip slot and smartphone pockets which will fit even the larger phones some of us have grown so used to. Spring the flap back shut and turn it around and you’ll find that the iconic embroidered heart is still there, just a little reminder that you’re always loved, especially when you feel down.

Speaking of Loved, this GG Marmont has the word detailed with pearls, which would explain its slightly higher price point of SGD3870 as compared to Modern which is priced at SGD3390.

For those who prefer something smaller (and cuter), there’s also this GG Marmont in Mini that comes in Cobalt Blue (SGD5480). Measuring 21.5 cm by13 cm, this little number comes embroidered with crystal dragonflies and flowers, a truly standout piece that will go with most anything in your wardrobe, provided you have the attitude to match.

GUCCI TAKES FLORENCE FOR RESORT 2018 SHOW

Gucci

Gucci presents its resort 2018 collection in FlorenceGucci presents its resort 2018 collection in Florence

Gucci showcased its resort 2018 collection in Florence, Italy. Creative director Alessandro Michele found inspiration in the Renaissance for the new season. Michele also brought rock and roll vibes to the season with leather jackets, denim and fringe. Resort focused on long and sweeping gowns, metallic pantsuits and embroidered jackets. Michele’s eclectic aesthetic saw silhouettes that borrowed from different eras.

From an 80’s inspired bomber jacket to mutton chop sleeves, the colorful designs are opulent luxe. The color palette features rich emerald, fuchsia, sapphire red, powder pink and lilac purple. Floral patterns, plaid, stripes and natural scenes decorate the looks. For accessories, the Gucci woman wears scarves, embellished headbands, beaded sunglasses and turbans.

Gucci x Angelica Hicks T-Shirt

Gucci

IMAGE: GUCCI

If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that the more we can’t get something, the more we want it. Which is exactly the case of this new limited edition collaboration between Italian luxury powerhouse Gucci and artist Angelica Hicks, whom Creative Director Alessandro Michele first discovered on Instagram (where else, right?).

Here’s the bad news. These tees (which were all illustrated by Angelica Hicks) will only be available for sale on Gucci.com in US and Europe, which means we in Singapore (and the rest of the world) won’t be getting easy access.
IMAGE: GUCCI

Known as #GucciGeeks collectively, a total of 11 designs are available, and each will be sold in their own corresponding tin, which we think is even more covetable than the actual tee. And only 1100 of these tees are available (11 designs x 100 each), with each tee individually numbered 1 to 100 just so you know they are truly limited edition.

Priced at GBP285 for each ‘tinned tee’ (that is, tee along with the really cool metal tin), you should start asking your colleagues/friends/relatives in the UK and Europe for help (or do what I did and order using Borderlinx and paying with PayPal), in case you really, really, really want it. Because the more we can’t have it, the more we want it.

Gucci x Mr Porter Collaboration Collection

Gucci

IMAGES: MR PORTER

With mere days to go before Mr Porter launches its first collaborative collection with Gucci (yes, boys, it’s finally our turn to have some fun after last year’s Gucci collab with Net-A-Porter), here’s most everything you need to know about it. For starters, there will be 43 pieces in this limited edition capsule collection that’s due to be launched this Thursday (18 May 2017) via Mr Porter.

Comprising everything the young Gucci-loving male of today will need, you’ll find blazers, sweatshirts, shirts, vests, tees, jeans, track pants and shorts. And that’s just the RTW. Also included in the line-up are shoes (at least 6 different pairs at last count), ties, bracelets, even a bag and a pair of sunglasses if you’re all for that head-to-toe look. Priced from GBP140 for a tie all the way to GBP2030 for an elaborately detailed bomber jacket, it will be a case of fastest fingers first when it launches, so don’t forget to keep them on standby at Mr Porter come Thursday.
